Rotala Macrandra ‘Mini Type 2’ is a very small-leaved, delicate variant of Rotala macrandra, whose growth habit reminds of an emerged plant even though it is cultivated under water. The leaves can assume different forms: longish-ovoid with a higher middle and the leaf margins turned upwards, or roundish-ovoid.
Strong lighting and good CO2 and nutrient supply are recommendable. It?s best placed as group in the foreground or midground, especially in nano tanks.
Please note:
As well as Rotala macrandra ‘Pearl’, ‘Mini Type 2’ is likely a mutant of Rotala macrandra ‘Green’. It occasionally develops shoots that look like the wild type form of ‘Green’, with larger leaves and growing considerably faster. They should be cut off as soon as they emerge in order to preserve the typical ‘Mini Type 2’ form. Also for propagation by cuttings, only shoots with the typical small leaves should be selected.
This small Rotala macrandra selection looks best as a group in the foreground or midground, especially in nano aquariums.
